Nic Zapko has performed with a number of local theater companies, but only recently has seen herself cast beyond roles playing on her deafness. A Look in the Mirror is Zapko’s first autobiographical show, touching on growing up with a deaf sibling in an otherwise hearing family. As with Zapko’s show, this 3-Minute Egg from a recent rehearsal is voice-interpreted. Performances continue through March 15 at Dreamland Arts in St. Paul.

I am fortunate to have Nic as part of my family, she is my sister in law. I think she is amazing and quite a unique woman. This performance was awesome in the fact that it was not at all what I had expected. I have always admired Nic for her strengths and had no idea what it took to make her that way. This performance gives an insight into how she came to be the amazing woman and mother that she is today. I feel very fortunate to know her!
