Allen Brewer and a former student of his, Jesse Draxler, have separate exhibitions showcasing their blends of visual imagery and text. At Chambers Burnet Gallery (on view through May 9), Brewer is exhibiting work inspired by his childhood memories. Draxler and longtime friend, Ben Kucera, collaborated for a year — Kucera fed one word or phrase each day to Draxler, who then created images incorporating that text. The blank pages in the exhibition represent the days in which Kucera and Draxler weren’t speaking to one another. The work is on view through this weekend at Umber Studios.
