Art and faith merge in the music of Matthew Levitt. The Minneapolis songwriter and folk musician sings in Hebrew on his new album, Ahava Raba. 3-Minute Egg went into his CD-release show at the Acadia Cafe. This Egg was made possible by a grant from Rimon: The Minnesota Jewish Arts Council.

The final Egg in our three-part series drops into the opening reception for “Cloud Cave,” Alexa Horochowski’s current solo exhibition at the Chambers Hotel’s Burnet Art Gallery. The show runs through July 4.

3-Minute Egg launches a three-part series on the creative process of Alexa Horochowski winner of Jerome, McKnight and Bush Fellowships. Today’s piece rolls back to 2010, when Horochowski created the temporary installation “Dowel Mountain” at the now-defunct Art of This Gallery. The finale of our three-part series on sculptor Rebecca Krinke brings us full circle, back to Rosalux Gallery (albeit, in a different location than before). We step into the opening reception of Rebecca’s first solo exhibition, “Visitation,” which is on view through Saturday, Feb. 26. Rebecca Krinke, a professor of landscape architecture at the University of Minnesota, has spent much of the past several years exploring her own sculpture and public art. The first in our three-part series into Rebecca’s artistic process winds the clock back four years to her studio work, then jumps to a group exhibition at Rosalux Gallery, marking Rebecca’s coming-out as a local artist. This series is supported by a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council.

We wrap up our three-part series on the creative process of Elizabeth Coleman by stepping into the opening reception of her Jerome Fellowship exhibition at the Northern Clay Center. The exhibition, which also features work from 2010 fellows Roxanne Jackson and Pete Scherzer, is on view through February 27.

This 3-Minute Egg series, funded by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, is part of yearlong project to explore the work of four Twin Cities women sculptors. An earlier series profiled Asia Ward. Look for series on two other women sculptors in February and mid-spring. ;

Elizabeth Coleman is one of three ceramic artists who were awarded 2010 Jerome Foundation fellowships. As part of its ongoing series funded by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, 3-Minute Egg followed Coleman through the creative process leading to the Jerome fellowship exhibition, which opened this past Friday at Northern Clay Center. This is the first in our three-part series on Coleman and her work.
