Ben Siems and his jazz group, The Willie August Project, recently invited an audience into a recording studio to watch the making of the group’s new record. In the final part of our Home Cooking series of musicians recording in alternative spaces, 3-Minute Egg spoke with the band’s founders about its style of jazz and its location of choice for the new disc.
CORRECTIONS: Siems is pronounced SEEMS, and audience members are receiving CDs from the concert when the album presses. These are corrections to errors in the introduction of this video.
Thank you, Matt, for this 3 minute egg spot on The Willie August Project’s studio recording session/performance back on September 25. Like all your postings, it is extremely well done, so much so that it evokes a little sadness in me by reminding me that such professionalism seems to be a dying art.
