About a dozen poets, novelists and other people of the pen — the Nu Griots — trekked into the woods of Northern Minnesota last summer for what they called a Black Writers Collaborative Retreat, sponsored by the Givens Foundation for African American Literature. Those writers have since given two public readings of the works produced from this retreat — both evenings covered by 3-Minute Egg. Here’s a peek into the latest, at Penumbra Theatre in St. Paul.

Thanks for your coverage – we really appreciate your willingness to cover these events.
Next time, it would be wonderful to hear that without the Givens Foundation for African American Literature – none of these events would take place.

thank you, Mary. It’s also true that many of the artists and events I profile wouldn’t be possible with the support of other foundations — too numerous for me to mention within the structure of a video, but often linked to within the captions that accompany each video.
